These compositions were made from sounds entirely derived from circuit-bent kids toys and home-made circuits. The idea was to create a set of complex, evolving drones out of these sound sources, exploring the transition to an altered state. Recorded 2009 / 2010 at Uplands, UK.
Topics: drone, glitch, experimental, electronic, electronica, circuit-bend, circuit-bent, microsound,...

Experimental ambient drone pieces, inspired by San Bushman rock art and cosmology. All sounds and images were derived from the San, their rock art, the animals that they hold sacred, and the environments in which they live. These were processed digitally, to provide an echo of the transformations characteristic of San shamanistic practice. Videos for these pieces are available at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsLNATFZSP3-BoDFFpev6Xw

These recordings present three different perspectives on the soundscape of a particular time and place. The sonic materials were gathered during a group soundwalk conducted on 7th March 2010, from Bridport to West Bay on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset, UK. The walkers both documented the soundmarks of this landscape, and interacted with objects during the walk to create new sounds. These were then edited by the different individuals involved, and processed to different degrees. The pieces...

Soundscape compositions, originally made for Resonance FM and broadcast in 2002. The pieces explore the sound environment of the community in which I lived at the time, and it relationship to the people that lived there. The first piece focuses on the sound of traffic, which is an inescapable feature of the sound environment in the area. It is a sound that annoyed me intensely, so I decided to find out whether other people living locally shared my view, by interviewing people living close to...

These four pieces are composed of textures and drones sourced from recordings of electro-acoustic improvisations, integrated with field recordings. The starting point was the four elements of Greek mythology, and the pieces are each based around recordings of one of these elements - respectively fire, earth, water, air. These sound sources have been blended with processed textures derived from recordings of a multi-instrumental improvised performance. In this way, the pieces explore the...
